Self Esteem

09/20/2021

Many of us think about our inabilities and compare us with others. This comparison brings frustration and sadness in our lives.

Let us focus on Jeremiah 1:4-10. This message will build up your self-esteem. The Bible has a great message for self-esteem, but it's a little different than what you find elsewhere. Everywhere else, the message is that you should love yourself. God says that you should love yourself because He loves you.

4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
6 Alas, Sovereign LORD, I said, I do not know how to speak; I am too young.
7 But the LORD said to me, do not say, I am too young. You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you.
8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the LORD.
9 Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, I have put my words in your mouth.
10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.

Just pray to God that He would help you to see yourself as He sees you. With His help let us being an inner battle. Almost all talk of battles and wars when concerning a Christian life refers to the inner battle that arises when a sinful thought tempts you. God's Spirit and the flesh are at odds. Pray to God to help you to overcome the thanklessness within you - this sin.

When negative thoughts come about yourself, fight with God's word. Cling to the verse in I Corinthians 6:20. "For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." Each time you are tempted with low self-esteem, please declare "No. God bought me at a price. He saw something of worth in me."

Having low self-esteem caused inaction. It wasn't true, nor did it serve to glorify God in my body and my spirit, which are God's. When I live a life of victory I can be an instrument in God's hands and He can use me and mold me exactly as He wants.

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;" - 2 Corinthians 4:7

"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.' - 2 Corinthians 12:9
