Plan & Commit
All of us make plans in our life. We make plans by working on our life, and we enact plans by working in our life. If we don't make plans first, we will have to make plans later.
We make financial plans to save for our children's schooling, retirement, and more. If you don't make plans, it's much more likely we will overspend, get into debt, and then be required to make plans to recover financial health. If we don't make plans in our life, we will suffer. In order to make the right plans we need godly counsel.
Keep the following principles as we plan and commit our plans to Lord to materialize.
- Commit our Work to the Lord.
Proverbs 16:9: The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.
Proverbs 16:1-3: The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. 2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. 3 Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.
As we commit our plans to the Lord, we must make sure we are doing what he wants us to do. It must be his purpose that we are planning for, because only they will stand. Our plans must be not only dedicated to the Lord, but he must get the glory from our success. It's very important that we allow God to reshape all our goals, steps, purposes, and plans as he desires. He knows best what we need and how to accomplish our plans. And our confidence is not in the plan itself, but in the Lord.
- Do not boast about the Future
Proverbs 27:1: Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.
As we plan for the future, it is very important that when we talk about it, but less obvious in how we live. We have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Overconfidence does not bring God's blessings on our plans. We can plan tomorrow but we should be humble and realize the events of each day are in the hands of the Lord, and we trust what comes to us.
- Be diligent to complete our plans
Proverbs 21:5: The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.
Proverbs 12:24: The hand of the diligent will rule, while the slothful will be put to forced labor.
At the end of the day, plans alone don't lead toward success in our life. Even as the Lord can shine on us and provide the best opportunity for success, it will still take hard work. Diligence is persistent effort.
Let us commit our plans to the Lord and ask Him to lead us in the right path.
