Brunch
Nowadays with our hectic schedules, often we rush our breakfasts or skip them altogether. We don't happen to sit down and eat breakfast together, as a family. With the work rush and each member of the family having their own busy schedule, we don't have time during the week, and we tend not to make the time over the weekends.
However, we must set time aside once a week to cook and have a proper family breakfast. We need to sit down together and fellowship, so we can engage with one another and refresh our bodies and minds.
I do this by sitting down for a family brunch every Saturday morning. After a long week, I know no one wants to wake up early for breakfast on a Saturday. So, I let the family sleep in, make sure our bodies are well rested, and sit down for a satisfying brunch. It gives us the chance to catch up on the week past, and be excited for the rest of the weekend
I get them involved in helping me make the dishes. One dish always a part of my brunch spread is French Toast. It's simple, easy, and quick to make. It comes in handy when I'm pulling together different dishes to make the meal and it always tastes delicious. It's just hard to go wrong with french toast. Around the french toast, I mix-and-match other dishes.
Eggs are always a staple. Then there's the option of a salad, bacon, and ham. Or a side of fruits, granola, and yogurt depending on how early or late it is, how hungry everyone is, and what everyone's feeling like. But the possibilities are limitless. That's the great thing about brunch. Any dish ranging from early morning breakfast, to late afternoon lunch, is fair game.
At the end of the day, it's not important what dishes are served. The key is spending time with loved ones. So, I ask you to try it out as well. Endeavor to make time for family meals. Make an effort to have at least one breakfast meal as a family each week. Take the time to engage and interact with loved ones.
