Angelic Protection

04/25/2021

God is our eternal father and His supernatural protection is available for us. God's children are protected by his angels. Angels are created by God. Angels are ministerial spirits created to assist us in our journey on this earth. The word angel means 'Messenger' so, not surprisingly, many times in the Bible, God chooses angels to take his message to people.

He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully. God's angels are watching over us. - Luke 4:10

Angels bring good news from God

The job of telling Mary that she would have a very special baby went to God's chief messenger, the angel Gabriel. We're not told the names of the angels that told the shepherds about the birth of Jesus, or those who announced the resurrection of Jesus, but they also had great messages to tell the world.

The angels' opening words 'Do not be afraid' seem to be a common opening greeting from angels when they are bringing good or comforting news.

Angels are assigned to protect us

God sends His angels to protect us from the dangers and attacks of the enemy. Acts chapter 12 says that Peter was put into prison by King Herod, but the night before his trial an angel appeared to him, and told him to leave. Peter's chains fell off, and "he followed the angel out of prison, thinking it was a vision" (verse 9). The prison doors opened of their own accord, and the angel led Peter into the city.

When the angel suddenly left him, Peter came to himself and returned to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark. A servant girl called Rhoda came to answer the door, and "when she heard Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed that she rushed to tell the others and forgot to open the door for Peter" (verse 14). Eventually Peter is let in and describes "how the Lord had brought him out of prison" (verse 17).

Angels encourage us when we are depressed

Luke 22:43-44 is a passage describing Jesus' agony in the Garden and prayer, after which he receives strength from an angel, on the Mount of Olives prior to his betrayal and arrest. The Bible says an angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him (Luke 22: 43). Even Jesus was encouraged by angels.

Angels gives physical comfort

In 1 Kings 19: 5-8, we notice that Elijah the prophet of God was fed by an angel. Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat. He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

Angels carry our prayers to God and bring answers from Him

Jacob dreamt about angels. In his dream, he saw a ladder from earth to Heaven and angels going up and down from earth to heaven.

Even when Daniel fasted and prayed, his prayer was answered by God even on the very first day of his prayer. Daniel said he was lying with his face to the ground when he felt someone touch him, and he was brought to his hands and knees. The man, who was an angel, told Daniel to stand up. God heard Daniel's prayer and it was in response to his prayer that the angel came to him in this vision.

God's angelic protection and support to us are very real. He will never leave alone nor forsake us.
